  • When it Rains

    About artist Saxon Quinn

In 2016, while living in New York, I spent a lot of time wandering the streets by myself, taking notice of the patina on everything – on the footpaths, buildings and stoops, all the graffiti and weathered concrete. I started to build a fascination with the age and decay of things. Like these wanderings, my paintings and sculptures have a mixture of movements and marks that could almost be seen musically. I like the pieces to flow like Wassily Kandinsky and Cy Twombly but to have pockets of other things too: areas of roughness and “mistakes” coming to the foreground, but pushing my own personal abstract expressionist style.’

  • Emerging From Below 346

About this artwork by Anne B Schwartz

My new Shapes Series is rather playful. It has interesting, spontaneous shapes and beautiful jewel tone colors. Very sculptural paintings In this series and has a 3 dimensional appearance. Pastel colors, green, turquoise, orange. With Shapes, my newest series, paintings contain simpler sculptured shapes derived from memories of my jewelry designing career. Here, vibrant colors define sleek forms and gem-like angles that clarify and contrast with each other and with the flowing, organic forms introduced in Burst. Yet, befitting of their inspirational source, the elegant lines and crystalline planes complement each other in the way that the elements of fine jewelry meld to fashion an exquisite whole.

  • Symbiosis I

    About artist Chirnside

A metamorphosis of form, an evocation of identity. Chirnside’s Sundials unpacks the rich tapestry of our universe in an exploration of space, movement and light. Indents in space this series draws upon the rhythmic fluidity of Sanskrit for inspiration, encapsulating flow and rhythm through abstracted three-dimensional forms. From gestures on paper to the digital, from 3D fabrication to the physical, the work unfolds in earthen tones and plaster. Evoking the windswept face of a sand dune the artworks roll against the light and dance besides time; the face of each work constantly evolving with the sun. Through this interplay the work comes alive morphing from a crescendo of chiaroscuro to softened earthen tones throughout the day. By positioning the sun as the invigilator of his practice Chirnside grounds his viewer, asking them to be receptive to a power beyond themselves.
